Quaternio Verlag Luzern

Fine art facsimile editions from Lucerne

What is a facsimile and how do we work to perfectly render all aspects of the original?

In our publishing program, we at the Quaternio Verlag Luzern focus on fine art facsimile making, recreating the artistically most interesting Western painted manuscripts that are kept in the libraries and museums throughout the world.

A facsimile (Lat. fac simile = make it similar) from Quaternio Verlag Luzern is a reproduction of a medieval painted manuscript, true to the original in all its minor details. Our fine art facsimile editions appear in a one-time only and limited hand-numbered series of 980 copies or less.

Each one of our facsimile editions comes with an illustrative commentary volume as a key to the manuscript. Prior to publication, a documentation folder with the original facsimile leaves is produced to give you an idea of the character and splendour of the manuscript; this documentation folder is of course included in the free of charge delivery upon ordering the facsimile.
